Why is Cadbury having such trouble? Well, 80% of their revenue is from international sources (Their headquarters is located in the UK, meaning that only 20% of their gross income is from within The Kingdom), and all signs point to the international market being a priority in their future.
One of the things we've learned in our short time as a national small-time chocolatier is to make sure you've secured a profitable and worthy home base before branching out to the rest of the world. As it stands right now, Haydee Chocolatier products are only available within the continental US.
So, the bottom line is, as Cadbury product prices soar in the coming year, you can expect Haydee to stay as affordable as it is right now =).

After sampling the delicious chocolate mug recipe we posted a couple days ago, our taste buds craved more deliciousness.
We hunted down a number of online chocolate recipes and tried a handful (Sometimes working at Haydee HQ can be a real treat). Today we'd like to share with you our favorite: Peanut Butter Banana Dark Chocolate Smoothie.
This delicious creamy smoothie is not only an absolute thrill for your taste buds, it's easier than pie to make. An added bonus is some extra protein from the PB!
- 1 medium banana, cut into bite-size pieces (frozen or at room temperature)
- 2 tablespoons good-quality chocolate syrup.
- 2 tablespoons low-fat creamy peanut butter
- 3/4 cup nonfat milk
- Crushed ice
Combine the banana, chocolate syrup, peanut butter, milk and a handful of crushed ice in a blender. Blend for about 2 minutes, until the ice is well incorporated. Add ice as necessary for a thicker consistency.
We recommend throwing in a cocktail glass with two Good Vs. Evil Temptation truffles as garnishes. Delicious!

Chocolate company "Edna Chocolates Limited", located in Sri Lanka, was shut down yesterday due to using imported milk powder from China and Hong Kong suspected of containing Melamine.
Melamine is a chemical used to make various foams and plastics. It is often added to concrete to strengthen it. In the human body, it can cause kidney stones, along with reproductive damage and bladder problems. In the United States, the Food Safety and Inspection Service runs tests on animal products such as meat, eggs and dairy products to ensure that they do not contain any melamine.
Rest assured that Haydee Chocolatier does not use any imported dairy products that contain melamine!

To kick things off, we'd like to share a recipe we found. It is as delicious as any cake you've ever had, except the twist is it comes in a mug and takes but 5 minutes to make!
Dangerous Chocolate Cake-in-a-Mug
1 - coffee mug (microwave-safe)
4 T. - cake flour (plain, not self-rising)
4 T. - sugar
2 T. - cocoa
1 - egg
3 T. - milk
3 T. - oil
1 - splash of vanilla
3 T. - chocolate chips (Optional)
Add dry ingredients to the mug; mix well with a fork. Add egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in milk, oil, and vanilla, and mix well. Add chips, if using.
Put mug in the microwave, and cook for three minutes at 1,000 watts. Cake will rise over the top of the mug -- do not be alarmed. When finished, carefully remove mug from microwave and allow to cool a little. Tip onto a small plate prior to serving, if desired. Yields one generous serving or two "more virtuous" servings.
We've found that chopping up two of our Milk Chocolate Mousse truffles in lieu of the chocolate chips works wonderfully - An absolute delight!
